Unplugged: Off-Line Reading

Take a break from reality with a really good book - you know, the kind that you can't seem to put down and don't ever want to end. Here's a list of books that I believe meet these criteria:

If that's not enough for you, check out the The One Book List. This site asks the question "If you could pick one book that you would most like for the world to read, what would it be?" See how others answered this question and find some more good reads.

And, just to avoid stumbling into awfulness - here are a few books that should definitely be avoided:

The Right To Read

The Right To Read is a great but frightening article written by Richard Stallman. Sort of a modernized Fahrenheit 451.

Truth is Dumber Than Fiction

A collection of true stories -- you can feel good in the knowledge that you're not one of these people.

If that's not enough for you, check out News of the Weird. An entire site dedicated to the tracking of human stupidity.

Geek Carolling

Just imagine, a bunch of geeks showing up at your door step, singing songs. If it ever happened, they'd probably be something like these:

Alice in CyberLand

Apparantly I'm not the only geek who's an Alice in Wonderland freak... (hey, you didn't really think I was gonna leave these out, did you?)

Wired: On-Line Books

Just can't pull yourself away from the computer? Never fear, the net has a wealth of online books:
